Phistophilus

The phistophilus, or contract devil, is Hell's lawyer and dealmaker, a horned, scholarly fiend that appears wherever a mortal is desperate enough to bargain and binds the unwary in ironclad infernal contracts. It fights with the letter of the law as much as with claw and spell, and it never, ever breaks a deal - only enforces the fine print no one read. Set it against your players with a smile and a scroll, offering exactly the help they need at exactly the price they'll regret. On the table it's a scheming diabolic NPC or antagonist for any Hellfire Crisis game, the devil that binds Cheliax's bargains - even the trapmaking gnomes of the empire fall under its ink, like the Brastlewark Snarecrafter caught in its terms.
