Reefclaw

The reefclaws are aquatic monsters resembling huge shrimp or lobsters, their oversized claws gripping with viselike force and injecting a potent venom into anything they catch. Usually solitary, the females gather into small swarms to raise their broods, launching widespread hunts that have tipped over fishing boats and torn apart anyone who falls overboard. Worst of all is their spite: a reefclaw follows through on a kill even past its own death, loosing one terrible last slash as the brains leak from its broken skull. When the coral erupts into a boiling swarm of claws, the hunt is already closing on the party. On the table they're a ferocious low-level unit for any Over the Waves encounter, dangerous even dying and best fielded as a hunting swarm - lurk them in the same reef stalked by a far larger predator, the gutaki rising below.
